Project 1

Weaving of Reminiscence

Size:
210mm*148mm

Material:
sulphate paper,
straw rope

Pages: 48

Through documenting and passing down my grandfather's grass weaving craftsmanship, this project aims to explore the role of traditional handicraft in contemporary society in fostering emotional connections. Based on the grass weaving art of traditional Chinese culture, I delve deeply into the connections between memory and forgetting, as well as death and inheritance.

This book records items from the era of Grandpa's life and treats them in straw, aiming to honour Grandpa while retrieving my memories and reconnecting me with him.

Printing memories on sulphate paper, whose translucent nature expresses forgetfulness, led me to collect, link and treasure precious memories on the verge of oblivion with a straw rope.

Project 2

Pillow Shelter

Size:
120mm*250mm

Material:
tiger paper 200g,
cotton cloth,
pearl cotton,
acrylic

Pages: 42

This project focuses on how adults perceive social pressure and survival issues in a social context. Based on social observation and interviews. I use archives and documentaries to build a space for communication and relaxation, which can make more people think about and pay attention to the mental health of adults.

This book records the experiences of some of the people I interviewed, aiming to raise the widespread issue of the widely overlooked lack of mental shelter among adults.

Project 3

We Don’t  Exist

Size:
210mm*148mm

Material:
tiger paper 200g

Binding method:
lock-wire hardcover

Cover process:
silver foil stamping

Pages: 16

This project is based on my own identity as a descendant of "Marginal man", and in light of the fact that a large number of descendants of "Marginal man" have become marginalised in China, I am thinking about the blurring of their identity in their hometown.

The book cover uses a silver stamping process, and when people pick up the book, the face it shines on is fragmented, aiming to arouse people's thinking about their own identity and hometown culture, in line with the project name "We Do Not Exist".

The purpose of this book is to express my confusion about where I belong as a Marginal man, and my concern about the increasing number of Marginal men in the future.
